Evaluation - Question 2: How does your media product represent particular social groups?

The social group i was aiming at was male and female teenagers between the age of 15 and 25. To do this I included certain things in my magazine (images, fonts, and colours) to represent them correctly.
The images that I used in my magazine are similar to those that are used in real music magazines in the media. For example; pictured below is an image from Kerrang! compared to one of the images i used in my music magazine.
Similarities
In the images pictured above you can see that they're both close ups of females between the ages of 15 and 25 (the age of my target market).
Both the subjects are using direct address, which makes it a very powerful image and grabs the reader's attention. Using direct address makes it a lot more personal, and makes the reader interested in what the magazine is about.
They're both standing in front of a white background, which brings all the attention on the subject. Personally, I thought this worked best on my image because it brings out the colour of the subject's eyes and lips more. My image represents the fun personalities the social group has, whereas the Kerrang! image represents their more serious side.
Both of the images are confident and powerful, which shows the social group's personalities; they usually tend to be very confident and like partying a lot. This is also represented because it's a strong, striking image.
The lighting in both of the images are quite similar; they're both quite light images. I think this shows how innocent teenagers can be, and how vulnerable they can be (you can see everything in the image, nothing is hidden).

Differences
In the image that i took, the subject's make up is a lot more colourful (she's wearing red lipstick and has bright blue eyes), whereas in the picture from Kerrang! the colours are a lot less vibrant.
The image from my magazine is very playful and fun, whereas the image from Kerrang! is quite a serious image.
